Advertisement: Assistant Lecturer in Italian in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures

Applications are invited for the following post:

Assistant Lecturer in Italian in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Ref.: 201800213) (to commence on August 15, 2018, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with a possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding)

Applicants should possess a relevant Master’s degree with proven expertise in teaching Italian as a foreign language. They should have at least three years’ experience in teaching courses at all levels; information Communications Technology skills in language teaching; fluency in English and be familiar with recent trends in language teaching and curriculum development at tertiary level.

The appointee is expected to contribute to the existing curriculum by teaching and designing language courses and content courses (e.g. popular culture in Italy, Italian pragmatics, etc.). This is an academic-related post with teaching and administration as the main duties although research initiative is also valued.  Information about the Italian Language Programme can be obtained at http://www.italian.hku.hk

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
