Hong Kong As Method (香港作為方法) International Conference

In the fall semester, 2014, Hong Kong Studies and the Department of Comparative literature jointly bring to you-- “Hong Kong As Method” international conference, from 7th Dec to 9th Dec. It is an event you would not want to miss and end your year with regret!

To open the conference, we will have a public seminar, featuring the renowned Mr Chan Koonchung, Prof. Leo Lee and chairperson Professor Anthony Fung, on the topic of "Hong Kong As Method". The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese. All are welcomed to the seminar on 7th Dec 2014(Sunday) 3-5 pm at Rayson Huang Theatre, the University of Hong Kong. Registration has currently been closed due to over-capacity registration. Interested parties could decide if they would want to wait for walk-in seats. 

Here comes the exciting 2-day conference that welcomes all and basically first-come-first-served! You could always email me at serrini@hku.hk for a reservation, however, it is extremely unnecessary. For 8th and 9th Dec 2014, we will hold paper presentation sessions in CRT 3.04. We will cover topics concerning the legal subject, multiple identities, gender/queer politics, filmic imaginaries, modernity, social discourses and alternative citizenships. We will have three keynote speakers, Prof. Meaghan Morris from Sydney University, Prof. Ackbar Abbas from UC Irvine and Prof. Stephen Chan from Lingnan University. The conference will close with a roundtable discussion with Prof. Maybo Ching, Prof. Sebastian Liao, Prof. Kim Tong Tee, Dr. Sebastian Veg with chairperson Prof. Shu-mei Shih.
