Part-time Student Research Assistants Recruitment (Deadline: 5 February 2013)

Project: Contemporary Fashion Designers’ Archive Project
Primary investigator: Professor Louise Edwards, Modern China Studies
Co-investigator: Ms. Christine Tsui, PhD student

The objective of this project is to build a central-hub for access to the information of established and emerging contemporary fashion designers in (mainland) China. All positions are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

2 Translators
Duty: To translate the documentation and transcription from simplified Chinese to English
Requirement: Major in translation or literature study is preferable. Applicants interested in this position shall send an example (around 500-1000 words) of her/his translation work (from Chinese to English)

1 Assistant*
Duty: Task coordination with designers and other team members, edit pictures, upload pictures and documents to website. Text writing and editing on the website. Work with website designer to give consultancy on ‘fashion’ taste
Requirement: Major in fashion design is preferable. Good knowledge in usage of Photoshop and in both English and Chinese writing

1 Website designer*
Duty: To design the web pages for the websites
Requirement: Major in Web design or Graphic design
*For Assistant and Website designer, applicants shall send portfolio of design work

1 Website engineer
Duty:  To write the program for the website which must provide search engine.
Requirement:  Applicant with IT or computer science background who has experience in establishing websites is preferable
- All positions will be commenced from Mar 1st 2013. 
- Successful candidates are required to work for less than 20 hours/month.

- Successful candidates must get approval from their supervisors for working for us in spare time
- Mainland Chinese applicants should check with their home faculties whether the visa they are holding allow them to work at part-time basis in HKU

- The average hourly rate is approx. HK$50.  It will be confirmed in writing once the appointment of the candidate is confirmed
- As this project is funded by Louis Cha Funding, the payment will not be made until the completion of contract.
