The American Studies Programme of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures has the pleasure of inviting you to the following talk:

"SO... WHAT ARE YOU ANYWAY?"
ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

Kristie Lou Stout CNN International

Date and Time: April 24, 11 am
Place: Meng Wah Complex, Room 325

Synopsis
"So... what are you anyway?" It's a question CNN journalist Kristie Lu Stout, an American of both Chinese and European descent, has been asked all her life. To mark Asian Pacific-American Heritage Month, Ms. Stout will reflect on her mixed Asian-American identity and how it has shaped her decade-long career at CNN in Hong Kong.

Speaker:
Award-winning anchor/correspondent for CNN International and host of News Stream, Kristie Lu Stout has led and anchored coverage of major stories including the death of Kim Jong Il, the dynamic political landscape in China, and protest movements around the world. She has interviewed figures in a wide range of current events including Myanmar pro-democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi, dissident artist Ai Weiwei, and global pop superstar Lady Gaga. Ms. Stout holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree from Stanford University, and studied advanced Mandarin Chinese at Beijing's Tsinghua University.
