What future for the French Language?
A Prospective Analysis

Dr Dominique Wolton is a Research Director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Paris, and Head of the laboratory "Information, Communication and Scientific Issues" since 2000. He is the founder of the international journal Hermes and its Chief Editor since 1988 (CNRS Editions). He is also the Chief Editor of the collection Communication, which he founded in 1998 (CNRS Editions).

Dominique Wolton has published numerous works focusing on the relationship between culture, communication, society and politics. He is now researching the political and cultural impact of globalisation in the area of information and communication. His recent major publications include "L'Autre Mondialisation" (The Other Globalisation), Flammarion, 2003; "Il faut sauver la communication" (Saving Communication), Flammarion, 2005; and "Demain la Francophonie" (the Francophone World Tomorrow), Flammarion, 2006.
