New course prefixes

Date: 30 July 2010

Dear colleagues and students,

Please note that with effect from the 2010-2011 academic year, the course prefix LANG that was used for all of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures Language Programmes (Arabic, French, German, Greek, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Thai) has been replaced with course prefixes that are individual to each Language Programme. The new course prefixes are listed below.

ARAB: Arabic Programme
FREN: French Programme
GRMN: German Programme
GREK: Greek Programme
ITAL: Italian Programme
KORE: Korean Programme
PORT: Portuguese Programme
SPAN: Spanish Programme
SWED: Swedish Programme
THAI: Thai Programme

Most existing LANG prefix courses have been converted to the new individual prefix courses. For example, LANG1003 German I.1 is now GRMN1001 German I.1.

Please visit the SMLC homepage for details of the new 2010-2011 individual programme course lists (www.hku.hk/smlc). Should you have any queries or concerns, please contact the School directly via email at smlc@hku.hk or gchallen@hkucc.hku.hk OR visit the School’s General Office: Room 706, 7/F, K.K. Leung Building, HKU (open Mon-
Fri, 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 5.30 pm).
