The Nordic Model – A Successful Combination of Capitalism and Welfarism?

Mr. Lars Danielsson
Consul-General of Sweden in Hong Kong

During his presentation, Mr. Danielsson will discuss the economic and social models of the Nordic countries and the challenges they face in combining a comprehensive welfare system with advanced industrial development and free trade.

Mr. Danielsson's talk is organized as part of the University's Broadening Course YLAN0006: Living in the Land of the Midnight Sun - Towards an Understanding of Contemporary Scandinavia. This course aims to introduce students to the region of Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland) through the main themes of its history and culture.
