Valentina Ortiz is an experienced Mexican musician and storyteller. In addition to a degree in Political Science from Columbia University, she has studied theatre and dance in Mexico, France and New York. In 2006, Valentina joined the Se Cuenta company as a storyteller and founded the non-profit association Cuentos Viajeros (Travelling Stories) which aims at preserving the oral tradition of the native peoples of Mexico. The association has already published four storybooks and holds workshops around the world that apply musical improvisation techniques to storytelling.

The storytelling session When Men Danced… is composed of three stories that are all based on Mexican indigenous traditions. The session lasts for one hour and includes traditional music.

This event is organized with the support of the Consulate General of Mexico in Hong Kong.
