Genny, a waitress in the same restaurant where her mother Anita is a cook, dreams of escaping the constraints of small town life. Over a summer of crowded beaches and restaurants full of tourists waiting to be served, Cenzo, Vince, Genny, Anita, and Elena discover the meaning of freedom and realize that they will need to overcome social conventions, fear, and self-doubt before they can truly be free.
