Talk by Mr. Christian Ramage

France assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, 2008 and will retain it until December 31, 2008. During his presentation, which will take the form of an interactive discussion, Mr. Ramage will examine the following questions: What is Europe? What is the definition of Europe? What is the European definition based on? Religion? Geography? History? Values? Political, social values? What does it mean to be European? The talk will be followed by a Q&A session during which Mr. Ramage will also touch on the challenges facing France and French society today.

This talk is organized with the support of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau and is held as part of The University of Hong Kong’s Broadening Course YLAN0005: An Introduction to France and the Francophone World.
