From Kowloon City to the World Carnival

Date: 24 February 2008 (Sunday)

As part of its initiative to reach out to secondary school students of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong’s School of Modern Languages and Cultures is sponsoring a one-day carnival, “From Kowloon City to the World”, at the New Asia Middle School in Kowloon City on Sunday, February 24, 2008.

This is the second time the School has co-organized this event, and this year our focus will be on showcasing our Asian language and culture programmes, i.e. Arabic, Japanese, Korean and Thai. In addition to giving out information on the School’s undergraduate degree programmes, we will also be holding a series of cultural performances, costume workshops, and food tastings throughout the day.

The aim of the carnival is to provide secondary school students from all over the Kowloon City area with an opportunity to experience other languages and cultures first hand, to give them the desire to find out more about them and maybe even study them in the future.

Attached programme for your information.
